Learning for a better Future!
Unit 3, discusses the essential meaning of education and how it's extremely important for all of us regardless to our place in this huge world.
"Learning for a better future." Is the lesson's title. The title argues the necessity of education to people, because it will diffidently help in creating a better future.
Educated people tend to have a better understanding of life and they are mostly luckier than others in having and living a better life. Now a days, companies and various institutions care about having and recruiting educated people who hold recognizable degrees and at least have finished their university education.
The text is mainly compares the situation of education in India in the recent years and education in Palestine.
India:
1- Global companies are setting up in India for many reasons:
A)- The Indians software engineers are extremely brilliant and this is due to the high levels of education they get in their schools and universities.
This puts the young Indians in a high rank between the most skillful people in the world.
furthermore, ambition and the desire to have a better life derives many Indians to work hard on themselves in order to move on to a better status and to live in better conditions.
Cheap telecommunications, help the young Indians to enter the global village ( the world is a small village) so they would be equal to their colleagues in other countries.
Palestine:
Palestine, unfortunately is one of the countries that has suffered and still suffers from several kinds of occupations. Recently as you all well know, there is the Israeli occupation that makes life harder on Palestinians on a daily basis.
major problems:
Israel, takes the dominant majority of the Palestinian land, leaving very little for the Palestinians to live and work on.
The natural resources, such as water are also few.
This leaves us to conclude that there are no large industries in Palestine. There are no vehicles or electronic factories as instance.
The Palestinian Population is increasing rapidly. Unemployment is also increasing, because there are no enough jobs for people.
Advantages:
Despite those problem, Palestinians according to the book happen to have education, that works as a weapon against all those disadvantages.
Palestinian culture and society have always valued education, because its maybe the only available key for the Palestinians to have an economic development and a better national future.
In 1994, with the coming of the new Palestinian authority, the Palestinian Ministry of education started working on changing the whole system of education in Palestine.
1- Schools and teachers number rose to meet the continuous needs of the people.
This enables the Palestinian students to be part of the global community and their contribution will be via education.
The Modern Education aim:
1)- To prepare all students for life in this new world.
Providing the Palestinian students with the best kind of education needs:
1- A high- vocational education training. ( for teachers)
2- Academic education. (teachers)
Results:
1- Adults are getting the chance/ opportunity to upgrade/improve their skills.
2- They learn new skills to find good employment.
3- Students who drop out of ( get out of school, for different reasons) get the chance to get back to continue what they have started.
What would give Palestine a place in the global knowledge-based economy like India?
1- Highly qualified Universities.
2- Technical and Vocational graduates.
